Ladi Adebutu, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Ogun State governorship election, has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS). This was confirmed by the PDP Publicity Secretary in Ogun State, Kayode Adebayo, who issued a statement on **Monday, November 18, 2024, in Abeokuta.
According to Adebayo, Adebutu was invited for questioning in connection with disturbances during the local government elections held on Saturday, November 16, 2024. While the charges against him remain unclear, Adebayo expressed that efforts to secure Adebutu’s bail, either on personal recognition or through a surety, had been unsuccessful by 10 pm on Monday.
Adebayo further stated, “Our principal has called for calm and directed that all members of the party, supporters, and well-wishers should be rest assured that this time shall pass, it is one of the prices for our democracy.” He reassured the public that Adebutu’s lawyers would take further action the following day.
The PDP urged the public to remain calm and peaceful as the matter unfolds and to be informed of Adebutu’s whereabouts.
