President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Presidential Villa in Abuja this Sunday, marking a significant diplomatic milestone. Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Saturday ahead of the high-profile State Visit.

This visit will be the first by an Indian prime minister to Nigeria in 17 years, following Dr. Manmohan Singh’s trip in 2007, which solidified a strategic partnership between the two nations. According to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the visit underscores the commitment of both countries to deepen their bilateral relationship.

During their discussions, President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi will explore ways to bolster ties in critical areas, including trade, energy, technology, and security. The leaders are also set to formalize new agreements by exchanging signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) aimed at fostering cooperation and mutual growth.

This historic meeting comes as Nigeria seeks to strengthen its international partnerships to drive economic growth and development, while India looks to expand its influence and trade relationships across Africa.

The State Visit highlights the growing importance of Nigeria-India relations, with both nations poised to benefit from enhanced collaboration in various strategic sectors.
