In a decisive operation, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) eliminated scores of terrorists attempting to disrupt the repair of the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line, a critical infrastructure that supplies electricity to northern Nigeria. The airstrikes were carried out on Friday as NAF deployed fighter jets to provide security for electricity workers working to restore power after weeks of blackout across 17 northern states.

The power outage began when terrorists damaged key electricity towers, leaving millions in darkness for over a week. In response, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu instructed the National Security Adviser, Minister of Defence, and Service Chiefs to mobilize troops to protect personnel restoring the damaged power lines.

NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, provided an update on the mission, explaining that intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations had confirmed a concentration of terrorist fighters in the area.

The terrorists were reportedly assembling to further sabotage the transmission line repairs and threaten the lives of the workers. Upon confirming their location, NAF launched a targeted air assault, neutralizing several militants and securing the zone for uninterrupted repair activities.

This operation underscores the Nigerian military’s intensified efforts to protect national infrastructure and maintain stability in regions affected by terrorist activity.

The successful restoration of power marks a critical victory for both the military and the affected communities, as the North regains its access to electricity after a prolonged blackout.
