
A recent report shows that Nigerians are among the world’s most active social media users, with an average daily usage of 3 hours and 23 minutes. This ranks Nigeria fifth globally for time spent online, according to data from Cable.co.uk and We Are Social, shared by World of Statistics on X.
Kenya leads the list, where users spend an average of 3 hours and 43 minutes daily on social media. South Africa follows with 3 hours and 37 minutes, Brazil with 3 hours and 34 minutes, and the Philippines with 3 hours and 33 minutes. Nigeria’s usage levels reflect strong engagement with social platforms, surpassing Colombia (3:22), Chile (3:11), and Indonesia (3:11).
In contrast, some countries show significantly lower engagement. Ghana averages 2 hours and 43 minutes, and Egypt averages 2 hours and 41 minutes daily. European countries like Portugal and Italy also record lower averages, with daily usage times under 2.5 hours, highlighting a noticeable regional variation in social media consumption.
