In the ongoing trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele, a dispatch rider, Monday Osazuwa, revealed that Emefiele instructed him not to keep any record of the money he allegedly collected on Emefiele’s behalf. Emefiele faces charges of abuse of office and money laundering involving $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion.

During his cross-examination, Osazuwa admitted there was no documentation from Emefiele or his co-accused, Henry Omoile, acknowledging receipt of the funds, nor were there any witnesses present during these transactions.

This testimony followed that of Ifeoma Ogbonnaya, a business relationship manager with Zenith Bank, who stated that she had no documentation linking Emefiele to certain transactions involving three companies. A sixth prosecution witness, John Ogah, also testified regarding his work with Zenith Bank and his role as a secretary to the CBN governor.

Justice Rahman Oshodi has scheduled the next hearing for Wednesday, October 30th.
