The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revealed that 55,859 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were collected in Ondo State ahead of the November 16, 2024, governorship election. This represents 62.2% of the 89,777 PVCs available for collection, according to a statement by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

The five-day collection exercise, held between October 17 and 21, 2024, took place across all 203 wards in Ondo State. INEC described the outcome as the “highest percentage of PVCs collected in such a short period” since the Continuous Voter Registration process began in 2015.

INEC extended the collection period, allowing residents to collect their PVCs at INEC’s 18 local government offices from October 23 to 29, 2024. The Commission urged eligible voters to pick up their cards in person, reiterating its policy against proxy collection.
