The Federal Government’s investigative panel on Monday revealed that there is no evidence supporting claims that popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, slept outside prison during his six-month jail term.

Uju Agomoh, the Executive Director and founder of the Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action, disclosed this while presenting the phase one report of the panel at the Ministry of Interior.

The panel was constituted by Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo following allegations made by activist VeryDarkMan. He had accused Bobrisky of spending the jail term in a private lodge rather than the Kirikiri prison, allegedly due to the influence of a powerful godfather.

VeryDarkMan also claimed Bobrisky bribed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to drop money laundering charges. These revelations led to the probe by the Ministry of Interior.

However, Agomoh stated, “The panel did not find any evidence thus far that suggested Mr. Okuneye slept outside the custodial centre during the period of his imprisonment from April 12, 2024, to August 5, 2024.” The investigation continues, with the panel scheduled to submit further findings.
