The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal has been cleared of any involvement in a gold theft allegation at the Oba Akintoye Market, Lagos Island. The police investigation revealed that the accusation stemmed from a misunderstanding caused by incorrect account details provided during a transaction.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, explained that the case was a “mistake of facts,” stating, “Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal did the transfer to the wrong account number due to a mistake by the seller. Our investigation revealed there was no case of stealing.”
The accusation surfaced after a viral video showed traders confronting Anjorin-Lawal, accusing her of theft. Despite the confusion, it was established that Anjorin-Lawal had made a double payment to resolve the situation, even though the error was not her fault.
Following the assault she endured, six traders were arrested and charged in court. However, Anjorin-Lawal later withdrew her complaint. The defendants pleaded not guilty, and the case is ongoing.
