Adedeji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music star Davido, shared the hurdles he faced while obtaining an environmental permit for his $2 billion power plant project, which is set to become Nigeria’s largest by January 2025.

Speaking at the Seventh Day Adventist General Conference in Maryland, USA, Adeleke recounted his experience with government officials who were resistant to the project.

“I was told by a government official that the project would never see the light of day. But in my heart, I knew God had the final say,” Adeleke recalled.

The billionaire industrialist, who owns Pacific Energy, emphasized the importance of perseverance and prayer in overcoming the obstacles. His power plant, a 1,250-megawatt project, will supply about 15% of Nigeria’s electricity needs.

Despite facing setbacks, including denial of permits for environmental reasons, Adeleke’s persistence paid off when the Minister of Power eventually granted the approval, acknowledging the project’s value.
