Nigeria’s national power grid has collapsed for the second time in less than 24 hours, plunging large parts of the country into darkness. The latest collapse occurred around 9:17 a.m. on Tuesday, leaving most regions without electricity.

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) confirmed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Dear Valued Customer, kindly be informed there was a system collapse at 09:17hrs which has resulted in a loss of power supply across our network. We are currently working with our partners as we hope for speedy restoration of the grid.”

This marks the second consecutive day the grid has failed, with a previous collapse happening on Monday evening, triggering a nationwide blackout.

Efforts are ongoing to restore the power supply, and EKEDC assured customers that updates will be provided as soon as the situation improves.
