UEFA has named Asisat Oshoala’s goal in Barcelona’s match against Benfica as the Goal of the Season in the Women’s Champions League.

The football body praised the Nigerian forward’s remarkable bicycle kick, which was the final goal in Barcelona’s 5-0 victory on Matchday 1.

“The top ten goals of the 2023/24 UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign have been selected by UEFA’s Technical Observer panel, with Nigerian forward Asisat Oshoala taking the prize for Goal of the Season thanks to her stunning bicycle kick for Barcelona against Benfica,” UEFA stated.

Oshoala’s spectacular goal contributed to Barcelona’s successful campaign in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Despite this achievement, she did not finish the season with Barcelona, as she later joined Bay FC in the United States.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year continues to showcase her exceptional talent on the global stage, further solidifying her status as one of the top players in women’s football.
