More than 90 lorry loads of humanitarian aid have been collected by United Nations teams inside the Gaza Strip, just three days after Israel eased its 11-week-long blockade on the territory. The aid convoys, managed by UN agencies and their partners, are being organized to deliver desperately needed food, water, medical supplies, and other essentials to civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.

The recent easing of restrictions has allowed a limited but significant increase in the flow of aid into Gaza, where the humanitarian situation has reached critical levels. Many residents have faced acute shortages of food, clean water, and medical care during the blockade, which was imposed as part of Israel’s efforts to pressure Hamas.

While the arrival of over 90 lorry loads marks an important step, aid agencies stress that this is still only a fraction of what is needed to address the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza. UN officials and humanitarian organizations continue to call for sustained and unrestricted access to ensure that all those in need receive assistance.

The development comes amid ongoing international pressure on Israel to allow more aid into the territory and to work towards a longer-term solution to the conflict and humanitarian emergency. Aid distribution is expected to continue in the coming days, with priority given to the most vulnerable populations, including children, the sick, and the elderly.
