A tragic incident occurred in Sagamu, Ogun State, as a 51-year-old Nigerian returnee from the United States, Sunday Abioye, was found lifeless in a hotel room.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the discovery, stating that the Chief Security Officer of the hotel reported the case. According to the statement, Mr. Abioye’s body was discovered in Room 109 on Monday, following concerns raised by his brother, Jimoh Godday, who resides in Lagos.

Godday explained that he knocked on his brother’s door without getting a response and subsequently requested a spare key from the hotel manager. Upon entering, they found Mr. Abioye unresponsive, with the center of the bed soaked with an unknown liquid substance.

Police investigations revealed that the deceased had purchased nine types of medications the previous day due to health complaints. Drugs and traditional medicines were recovered from the room as evidence.

The body has been transported to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Morgue for an autopsy. While the cause of death remains unknown, the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.
