The family of Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has declared him missing and petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) for urgent intervention.
In a petition signed by their lawyer, Wilson Anuge, and dated February 7, the Idibia family stated that the singer has been missing since February 10, 2025. According to the statement, 2Baba left his residence that morning in his loungewear for what appeared to be his routine walk but never returned.
Despite extensive efforts by his family, staff, and management to locate him—including reaching out to friends and associates—there has been no contact or trace of his whereabouts.
The family also raised concerns over suspicious messages sent from his social media accounts to some of his close friends, requesting financial assistance. They described this as unusual behavior for the music star, leading to fears that his identity might have been compromised.
“These messages are alarming, as Mr. Innocent is financially independent and has never required assistance in such a manner,” the petition read in part. “This has led his family to suspect that his identity may have been compromised and that someone may have abducted him, actively manipulating him to exploit his contacts for monetary gain.”
The petition further stressed that 2Baba had never gone missing before or abandoned his professional commitments for such an extended period, making the situation even more alarming.
Adding to the mystery, a viral video surfaced on Thursday showing the singer proposing to Natasha Osaruwa, a lawmaker in the Edo State House of Assembly, just hours after reports emerged about his planned divorce from his estranged wife, Annie Idibia.
Meanwhile, 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, has publicly pleaded for his release, urging Nigerians to appeal to Natasha Osaruwa. In a video statement, she claimed her son had not been himself lately.
The Idibia family has called on the DSS to deploy its resources and expertise to locate 2Baba and ensure his safety.
As investigations unfold, fans and well-wishers across the country remain anxious for updates on the whereabouts of the celebrated music legend.
