Esther Nworgu has won Nigeria’s second medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. The 21-year-old athlete secured a silver medal in the women’s up to 41kg para-powerlifting event at La Chapelle Arena on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Nworgu set two new Paralympic records with lifts of 112kg and 118kg, but was narrowly beaten by China’s Zhe Cui, who lifted 119kg to claim gold and set a new Paralympic record.
This achievement comes after Eniola Bolaji won Nigeria’s first medal of the Games on Monday, securing a bronze in the women’s singles SL3 badminton event.
