Out of 38 directors shortlisted for the position of permanent secretaries in the Federal Civil Service, 19 have failed the qualifying examination.
The selection process, initiated by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) in October 2024, is aimed at filling vacancies in eight states.
A memo from the OHCSF, dated October 7, 2024, confirmed that officials under disciplinary procedures were ineligible to apply and outlined the approval of the process by President Bola Tinubu.
Eno Olotu, Director of Press at OHCSF, provided an update, stating that 19 of the 38 directors who sat for the exam passed the first stage.
These candidates will now advance to the second stage, which will assess their competency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for government operations. This stage is set for November 13, 2024.
The recruitment process follows a rigorous, three-stage procedure, with successful candidates from the second stage advancing to the final stage on November 15, 2024, where they will be evaluated by a panel of top bureaucrats and private sector representatives.
