A major London hospital was forced to evacuate 150 people on Thursday following reports of a chemical incident.

The incident occurred at Guy’s Hospital in Southwark, where firefighters were called to the scene at 8:49 am.

Crews from the London Fire Brigade were deployed to ventilate the building, and the evacuated individuals were from the basement and ground floor levels of the hospital.

According to the London Fire Brigade, two fire engines, two fire rescue units, a command unit, and specialist hazardous materials officers were sent to the scene.

The hospital, a major elective center with 400 beds, specializes in cancer, kidney, urology, and dental care, as well as ear, nose, and throat and orthopaedics.

The cause of the chemical incident is yet to be determined, and authorities are working to ensure the situation is brought under control.
