Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan-designate, has declared his readiness to ascend to the throne as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan. He made this statement when Governor Seyi Makinde’s representatives paid him a courtesy visit at his Alalubosa residence in Ibadan.

Oba Olakulehin spoke eloquently, dispelling concerns about his health, and expressed his gratitude to the governor for the visit. He reiterated his divine backing and his preparedness to take on the responsibilities of the throne. He said, “I am happy and excited to receive the delegation from our governor. I am fully ready to mount the throne, and I know God is behind me. He has said that I am the next Olubadan, and I know truly that it is my turn. By God’s grace, I will not disappoint my people.”

The visit was led by Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), accompanied by other dignitaries, including Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, the first woman Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, and Segun Olayiwola, the Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The delegation was warmly received by Oba Olakulehin and other chiefs, including Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi (Asipa Olubadan), Oba Eddy Oyewale (Osi Olubadan), Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe (Osi Balogun), and Oba Kola Adegbola (Asipa Balogun Olubadan).

Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe, speaking on behalf of the kingmakers, praised the governor for his support and expressed confidence in Olakulehin’s ability to lead the people of Ibadan. He said, “Ibadan has never been destroyed and it shall not be destroyed. We thank the Governor for his support and leadership. He is a true-born of Ibadan, and we pray that he will never be put to shame. We are happy to see our Kabiyesi (Oba Olakulehin) hale and hearty, and we are confident that he will lead our people with wisdom and integrity.”

The visit marks an important step in the process leading to the governor’s approval, and Oba Olakulehin’s ascension to the throne is eagerly anticipated by the people of Ibadan.

The Olubadan-designate’s readiness to mount the throne is seen as a positive development for the city and its people, and expectations are high for his leadership and guidance in the years to come.
